SURYA KUND - GANGOTRI (UTTRAKHAND)



Suryakund is a waterfall near to Gangotri Temple in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand India. Suryakund holds relegious significance and also is a spectacular waterfall. Tourists as well as pilgrims as well as devotees pay their visit to Suryakund while visiting the Gangotri Temple.

The Suryakund is situated on one side of the iron bridge while Gauri Kund is located on side of the iron bridge. The fall of Bhagirathi River from the height makes a breathtaking view for visitors. 

It is being said that Goddess Parvati uses to take bath here, paying homage to the sun god.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The best time to pay your visit is in early morning while suryakund can also be visited by 8:00 AM TO 5:00PM. 

HOW TO REACH 


Suryakund is located 500 meter ahead of Gangotri Temple while nearest Railway Station is Rishikesh which is around 234 kms away from while nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport which is around 240 kms away.

PLACES TO VISIT NEAR SURYAKUND


1. Gangotri Temple - dedicated to Goddess Ganga which was erected by Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century. The Maharaja of Jaipur rebuilt this in the 20th century. Over around 3 lakh visitors pay their visit here. Gangotri Temple is also one of the main Char Dham. 

2. Dharali - Away from the Hustle Bustle life, a small village that is situated on the tranquil and serene bank of the Ganga.  Surrounded by lofty trees of pine and deodar.
