BADRINATH TEMPLE - (UTTRAKHAND)

Badrinath Temple also known as "Badrinarayan Temple" , Located in Uttarakhand's Badrinath Town. One of the most important hubs of religious travel in the whole of Northern India. Badrinath Temple is one of the four Char Dhams (Four Important Pilgrimages) in the state of India. The Four Pilgrimages namely Yamunotri , Gangotri , Kedarnath and Badrinath. This Blog will be all about "Badrinath". Badrinath is located at an elevation of around 3,100m. The Temple is believed to have been established by sage Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. With Lord Vishnu as its deity.

 The Temple is Open For 6 Months In a Year Only , it becomes inaccessible in winter season due to heavy Snowfall. River Alaknanda flows through the Badri Valley also adds beauty in the whole valley. Many devotees are smitten by the charm of holy shrine as it showcase the traditional Garhwali Wooden Architecture. Badrinath also attracts a lot of tourists and devotees not Only from India but from all over the world. Devotees came here for Darshan , Aarti and to take Badri Vishal's Blessings along with them. A large number of Devotees come every year.

BADRINATH TEMPLE - MYSTIC TALES

According to legend , the temple was originally established by Adi Shankaracharya which was renovated several times. Badrinath is one of the Panch Badri. The other four are Bhavishya Badri , Bridha Badri , Yogadhyan Badri and Adi Badri. 

It's a sacred place to Lord Vishnu, particularly in Vishnu's dual form of " Nara-Narayan" thus, In The Mahabharata , Lord Krishna addressing Arjuna Says, "Thou wast Nara in a former body, and ,with Narayana for thy campanion didst perform dreadful austerity at Badari for many - many myriads of years".

When goddess Maa Ganga was requested to descend to earth to help the suffering humanity on earth she was unable to withstand the force of her descent. Mighty Ganga was split into 12 holy channel, with Alaknanda being one of them.

In Mahabharata , Mountains around Badrinath are mentioned where the Pandavas are said to have ended their life by ascending the slope of a peak in Garhwal called Swargarohini "Ascent of heaven". Badrinath Temple also have a Tapt Kund , A Hot Sulphur Spring consider to have medicinal values, River Alaknanda is also originate from here. Badrinath Temple is situated at a height of 10,279 feet.




INSIDE THE TEMPLE

The main gate of Badrinath Temple is colourful and imposing known as Singhdwar. The temple is approximately 50 feet tall with a small cupola on top, covered with a gold gilt roof.

• GARBHA GRIHA 
Canopy covered with a sheet of gold offered and houses Lord Badari Narayan, Kuber (God Of Wealth) , Narad Rishi , Udhava, Nar& Narayan. The complex has 15 idols especially attractive is the one metre high image of Lord Badrinath Finely sculptured in black stone. According to legend Shankara discovered a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. He originally enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund of Hot Spring.

• DARSHAN MANDAP
Lord Badrinarayan is armed with Conch and Chakra in two armes in a lifted posture and two arms rested in Yogic Pose. Badrinarayan is seen under the Badari Tree, flanked by Kuber and Garuda , Narad , Narayan and Nar. As you look , standing to the right side of Badrinarayan is Uddhava. To the far side are Nara and Narayana. 

• SABHA MANDAP 

It's a place in the Badrinath Temple Complex where devotees and pilgrims assemble.


WHEN TO VISIT 

Only open for six months in a year and is reopened around April. The best Time to visit Badrinath Temple is September-October or You can also travel in the month of May And June. During Monsoon, It will be dangerous to travel as there is much possibility of Landslide.

By Air , around 317km away there is the Jolly Grant Airport Near Dehradun.

By Train , The Rishikesh Railway Station is 297km away while Kotdwar Railway Station is 327km away.

By Road , North India Cities are well connected to Badrinath.

1. Vasundhara Fall - The Vasundhara Fall surging near the holy city of Badrinath and is one of the most enchanting places to visit in Badrinath. 

2. Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara - This place of Sikh is dedicated to tenth Sikh guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This gurudwara is also known as the world's highest gurudwara situated at the height of about 4400 meters.

3. Mana Village -. It is also known as the India's last village small but filled with natures surrounding. It's a worthwhile place to visit.

4. Tapt Kund - Tapt Kund is a natural hot spring water near Badrinath which is believed to have medicine property which helps to cure skin disease.

5. Pandukeshwar - Its is a sacred place for the Hindus. It is believed that here the father of Pandavas workshipworkship Lord Shiva.
