SHRI BANKE BIHARI JI TEMPLE, VRINDAVAN - (UTTARPRADESH)



Banke means Bent and Bihari means Enjoyer. This is how Krishna, who is bent in three places , got the names Banke - Bihari. Banke Bihari Mandir is a Hindu Temple of Radha-vallabha tradition dedicated to the God Krishna, in the holy city of Vrindavan Mathura District, State (Uttarpradesh), India.

It was constructed in 1864. Situated near Shri Radha Vallabha Temple, Banke Bihari was originally workshipped at Nidhivan , Vrindavan. Situated in the holy city of Vrindavan, this temple represent the devotion and love for Radha Krishna by Swami Haridas Ji


This shrine is considered among the 7 temples of Thakur of Vrindavan along with Shri RadhaVallabh Ji, Shri Govind Dev Ji and four others. The image of Krishna Ji is standing in the Tribhanga posture in this temple. Haridas Swami initially worshipped this religious image under the name of Kunj-Bihari. During Your visit to Vrindavan make sure that you are fortunate enough to visit this temple and take the blessings of Krishna Ji. The governing god is in the form of a baby who is looked after by a bank of vicars.

It is completely crowded but still the atmosphere is so pure , divine and heavenly that cannot be described in as words. However, the temple gets open at 7:45 am during summer while in winter it generally opens at 8:45 am.

Apart from this, it is important for you to know that darshan is not allowed at the time of bhog. In order to have a proper darshan, visit the temple early morning and avoid standing in long queues.


Best Time To Visit

Temple is open throughout the Whole Year if you wish to beat the crowd you can visit anytime. However, the best Time to visit is in Winter season that is in the month of October to March.


HISTORY

Goes Back to Swami Haridas Ji (The Guru Of Tansen) who established the temple. Once Swami Haridas sang a verse in Nidhivan in Vrindavan for his disciples. While he was singing , Lord Krishna and Radha Rani aapeared infront of him. On his request , Radha Rani And Krishna merged together to form the idol of Banke Bihari. 

ARCHITECTURE

Shri Banke Bihari Temple was constructed in the year 1862. Initially the deity was worshipped at a temple in Nidhivan. Later on after the completion of the new complex, the idol of Shri Banke Bihari ji was shifted to the present temple. Architecture is influenced by the Rajasthani Style with arches and pillars adding to its magnificence.



OPENING AND CLOSING TIMING


Bankey Bihari stay open all days in a week and You Can visit in morning and evening. 
Morning till 12:00PM and In Evening , Doors opens at 4:00PM closes at  8:00PM.

Mathura 136km away from Indira Gandhi international airport , New Delhi 

By Rail - Mathura Junction (MTJ) , Mathura Cantt. (MRT)

By Road - Well connected by road you can easily reach there by Taxi bus and car. Nearest Bus Station : Mathura.
