Rishikesh is a tehsil located in the state Uttrakhand's Tehri Garhwal region right on the banks of the holiest River Ganga. Rishikesh is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India it is also known as " GATEWAY TO THE GARHWAL HIMALAYAS" and " YOGA CAPITAL TO THE WORLD" . It is the seventh most popular state of Uttarakhand known as the pilgrimage town and regarded as one of the holiest place for Hindus. 1. LAKSHMAN JHULA - A BRIDGE HONOURED ON THE NAMD OF LAKSHMANA 

Walk on the bridge that was supposed to be used by Lord Lakshman for crossing the river Lakshman Jhula is a height of about 450 ft. Height iron suspension bridge over the Ganges that connects two hamlets - Tapovan and Jonk. It's total length is 137 meters and you can walk there and enjoy the view of phenomenal Ganga River.

2. TRIVENI GHAT - CONFLUENCE OF GANGA, YAMUNA AND SARASWATI

Located on the banks of River Ganga , this is the largest Ghat in the whole Rishikesh and is aholy site for Hindus as this ghat finds its mention in Ramayana and Mahabharata. Tourists can witness the grandeur and magnificence of the "Maha Aarti" that is conducted every evening, can immense themselves in the holy water while making offerings ( milk) to deities. The significance of this ghat according to Hindu mythology is so much to beleive that if one takes a dip in the holy water here washes away all their sins. 


3. NEELKANTH MAHADEV TEMPLE

This is just not a place to visit this place is a must to visit here in Rishikesh. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is sacred pilgrim spot visited by hundreds of people every day through out the year. The temple is approximately 32 kms from Rishikesh and is a top notch attraction in the city. The best time to visit Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is during the major festival Shivratri which is celebrated here at grand level. This temple also offers phenomenal view of Rishikesh. 

4. RAJAJI NATIONAL PARK


The extensive collection of flora and fauna is showcased in the amazing Rajaji National Park thought the National park is registered as one of the largest in the country, one of its gates is towards chilla which falls in Rishikesh. You can go for a morning or evening safari to explore the safari zone of the park. Over the past few years, the number of fauna species in the park has increased which has increased the number of people visiting here. 5. RAM JHULA

13. MUNI KI RETI

14. VASHISHT GUFA 

Vashisht Gufa is an ancient cave where the human son of Lord Brahma, Sage Vashishth medidate. Lengends states that the sage tried to commit suiside after losing all his children but Maa Ganga didn't allow him to die. He then decided to medidate there inside the cave. The cave house has a Shivalinga and is maintained by the Purishottamanand Society.

15. BHOOTHNATH TEMPLE 

Bhoothnath temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva the main temple is small temple on top floor from where you will get panoramic view of Rishikesh. According to the legend, Lord Shiva took rest here while he was going to marry his first wife Sati. Unlike the other this temple is very quiet as not much very people visit here. 


16. PARMATH NIKETAN

Parmath Niketan Ashram located in the lap of the verdant Himalayas, along the banks of the Ganga is one of the most popular ashram in Rishikesh. The ashram specialises in traditional ayurvedic practice treatment, yoga , meditation and other natural healing techniques. 

17. SHRI BHARAT TEMPLE

One of the oldest and the most revered temple in the entire city, Shri Bharat mandir is dedicated to Lord Hrishikesh Narayan this temple has several mythological reason behind for instance, legends has it that after the battle of Kurukshetra, the Pandava brother while on their way to heaven, took shelter and also offered their prayers to Lord Hrishikesh Narayan in this temple. 

18. VIRBHADRA TEMPLE


This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva located at the Virbhadra town near Rishikesh Uttarakhand. Shiva is a fierce form is worshipped in the temple. This temple is 1300 years old where Virbhadra, an appearance of Lord Shiva is worshiped her. Virbhadra is a personification of Lord Shiva which was created by him in anger. 


19. RISHIKUND 


Rishikund means Pond of Sages' is one of the importance place to visit in Rishikesh. A hot water spring, it is believed that a pious sage named Kubz was blessed by Goddess Yamuna who promised to stay here in Rishikesh forever. 


20. AASTHA PATH 

Aastha path starts at one end from Triveni Ghat of Rishikesh and ends on the end of Barrage. The path is strictly meant for walking and used by people in morning and evening walks one can enjoy the coolness of flowing water, fresh air and divine atmosphere of the Ganga while walking along the path.
