The Christ Church in Shimla is the second oldest church in northern India which was constructed in the Neo-gothic style also a state of pure devotion as well as architectural beauty. This place is also one of the most attractive place in whole Shimla Town , Himachal Pradesh. It took almost 11years to complete and stands as a reminder of the British Colonisation in India. This style was popular in England during the Victorian era. Christ Church was built in 1857 to serve the large Angelican British Community in the area. Christ Church is peaceful and indeed eye-catching.

A grand library, which was built in the year 1910 by James Ransome, is located right next to the Christ Church. The beautiful library is designed in the typical Elizabethan style and boasts of an enviable collection of Books.

During British Raj In India , the area around the Church was occupied by a huge flock of Britishers and Anglo-Indians. Since they were the followers of Christianity , they asked the government to build a place for their workshop Therefore In 1844 Construction of Christ Church Begins. The Foundation of the Church was laid down by Bishop Reverend Thomas Daltry. It took 11-12 years for completion. Total cost was around INR 40,000-50,000.

Choose to walk on foot if you are staying near to Mall Road or The Ridge In Shimla. The Church is just a few kilometres away from the Shimla US Club and Only 3.6km away from the City Centre. Distance from Shimla Railway Station is 1.89km and Distance from Shimla Bus Stand is 1.3km
