Wahga is a village. This town is famous for the Wagah Border Ceremony. The International border between India And Pakistan. The pegeantry of the beating retreat and the change of Guard within handshaking distance of the Indian and Pakistani Forces makes for a most charming spectacle. WAGAH , an army outpost on Indo-Pak border between Amritsar and Lahore, is an elaborate complex of buildings, roads and barriers on both sides. 

Located at a distance of 22 km from Lahore , Pakistan and 28 km from Amritsar, India. The prime attraction is The Wagah Border Ceremony or The Beating Retreat Ceremony which is held every day in evening.




This Ceremony includes the closing and opening of the international gate and lowering the flages of both countries. The Flag ceremony has been conducted by the Indian Border Security Force and Pakistani Rangers since 1959. Thousands of people came here for once in a lifetime experience as a display of National Pride. During the build up to the ceremony, the crowd engages in chanting the Indian National Anthem, rounds of applause and Dancing on Hindi Songs. Atmosphere, ambiance , goosebumps, enthusiasm and energy is super high. Availability of food and water is also there.

WAGAH/ATTARI BORDER HISTORY

Wagah is a village in Pakistan located on the historical Grand Trunk Road that passes between Amritsar and Lahore. During the partition of India, this border migrants used this border crossing to travel to Pakistan from India. Since 1959, both countries have been conducting the lowering of the Flag ceremony as a daily ritual. The flagpole on the Indian side is the highest one in the country while the one on Pakistan side is considered to be the tallest one in South Asia.


WAGAH BORDER PARADE TIMINGS 

The Beating Retreat Ceremony starts at 4:15 PM in winters and 5:15 PM in Summers. It lasts for about 45 minutes.

By Air - Nearest Airport is Sri Guru Ramdass International Airport at a distance of 36 kms from Wagah Border.

By Train - Nearest Railway Station is Attari Railway Station which is at a distance of about 6 kms from Wagah Border.

By Road - Nearest Bus Stand is Amritsar nearest bus stop which is at a distance of about 32 kms.
