MANU TEMPLE - MANALI (HIMACHAL PRADESH)


Manu Temple located in Manali of Himachal Pradesh. Manu Temple is a temple dedicated to Sage Manu, Temple lies in the Beas River Valley, in Kullu District which is about 275 kilometres North Of Shimla. Manu Temple is an old temple at a distance of 3km from the main market of Manali. Some legends rely heavily on the fact that Sage Manu come here regularly for meditation. The topography features of the valley are inviting and trekkers all over the world are drawn to Manali. 

Unlike other temples that stood in, this temple was never built for the ones who carry their hearts on the sleeves. To make the way to go to the shrine, you need to trespass a narrow road, which is itself seems to be nothing but a thrilling adventure. Indian Deities usually come here in order to find peace and to be spiritually enlightened. 

Keeping thrill aside, Manu Temple leads you closer one step to Mother Nature and makes you release there's much more into life. The moment you step on the porch, you will start sensing a fresh and calm breeze blowing all around.

Temple is a Pagoda structure that offers a glimpse into history and spirituality through its facinating architecture. The name Manali was derived from the Sage's name who is believed to be the creator of the Human Race.

HISTORY OF MANU TEMPLE

Temple is dedicated to King Vaivasvata Manu also called as Sanatan Hindu Lawgiver. According to legend,  Sage Manu found a small carp fish in a river he was washing with his hand. Fish asked him to rescue, but the fish was actually Lord Vishnu appearing as a fish. The Sage put the carp in a bowl to save fish. Fish become too big in order to fit into the bowl. Sage put him into bigger bowl that also couldn't fit him. Sage put him into the river, fish grew to a size that river couldn't accomodate. The Sage eventually moved fish into the ocean.

It was Lord Vishnu appeared in his real form and informed Sage Manu about the flood the would wipe off the planet. The Sage built a boat and he landed on earth from his boat and meditate there. The location where he is believed to meditated is the location where the Manu Temple has been constructed.

In the month of April May June as the weather is mostly cold but pleasant enough to explore the location.

•Prayer Timings - For Prayer Timings , you must approach the priest at the temple as they are right one to guide you.

•PHOTOGRAPHY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED HERE.

Wear clothes long enough to cover your knees and keep the shoulder covered.

HOW TO REACH
 
Nearest Railway station is Jogindernagar Railway Station which is about 165 kilometres away from the Temple and Nearest Airport is Kullu Manali Airport in Bhuntar which is at a distance of about 55 kilometres. Manu Temple is about 3 kilometres away from the main market.
