QUTUB MINAR - MEHRAULI (NEW DELHI)



Qutub Minar in Delhi is World Heritage site. This Tallest Minar was constructed in 1192 by Qutub-ud-din-Aibak and later completed by his successor Itutmish. Qutub Minar is the second tallest monument in Delhi. Qutub-ud-din-Aibak , Founder of Delhi Sultanate after he defeated the Hindu Ruler of Delhi. With a height of 72.5 meters (238ft). The tower has 5 distinct Storeys, each marked by a projecting balcony and tapers from a 15m diameter at the base to just 2.5m at the top. The first three storeys are made up of red sandstone, Forth and Fifth storeys are made up of marble and sandstone. It is one of most visited tourists spots in city due to it being one of the earliest that survives in the Indian Subcontinent. Architecture Style is Islamic Architecture. This 12th Century Minaret is considered as the earliest Islamic Structure in India with both Arabic and Brahmi inscriptions. It also have a spiral staircase of 379 steps. 

Once you entered in Qutub Complex , you need to walk a lot to cover all the structure within so make sure to wear comfortable Shoes.
